Loraine Van Slyke, ANP

Meet Loraine

I am honored to be a member of the health care team at Denver Family Medicine. My path to the field of health has been somewhat unique in that I began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from St. Lawrence University in New York and continued on to receive a second Bachelor’s degree as well as a Master of Science in Nursing at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. My studies have taken me from biomedical research in Boston to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, to remote village clinics in Northern India and family practices in the mountains of West Virginia.

From these experiences, I began my career in an urgent care setting becoming skilled in evaluating and managing acute medical conditions in Denver’s more underserved populations. I then transitioned into family medicine where delivering comprehensive patient-centered health care and promoting wellness through education have become the cornerstones to my practice philosophy as a nurse practitioner. I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to work with DFM as they serve and act as health advocates for the community.

I grew up in Portland, Maine, where my love of the outdoors began. I now live in this beautiful state with my husband, daughter, and bernedoodle. While we love to hike and ski, we are always looking for new and fun weekend excursions.
